The Organization
The Metering group is charged with growing ADI&#39;s dominant electricity metering position and addressing the needs of the Smart Grid roll-out globally. The Position
A vacancy exists for a Communications System Design Engineer on the PLC development team. This person will be required to:
* Be the system architect &amp; technical lead for PLC design with a focus on mixed-signal system design. Tradeoffs between analog &amp; digital implementations in order to balance system throughput, communications robustness, cost &amp; TTM will need to be considered.
* Design experiments to analyze communication performance issues &amp; optimize system performance.

Responsibilities
The Evaluation Engineer will be responsible for:
Top level design verification of new designs prior to tape-out
Simulation of the design using LabVIEW, IVY and other tools as appropriate to identify bugs prior to tape-out
Working as part of the Development Team to establish the hardware and software evaluation capability for new high performance ASIC 
solutions
Developing new measurement techniques for the evaluation of new products
Preparing and documenting Evaluation plans
Identifying functional and performance limitations of silicon to root cause
Preparing and documenting Evaluation reports
Working closely with Design and Applications engineers to conduct competitive evaluation of products in the marketplace and feasibility work to establish new market opportunities through extended accuracy and additional functionality of our products.
Candidates should have an Electronic Engineering degree or equivalent with 4 years experience in Mixed Signal Semiconductor electronics, preferably in a Lab environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong practical knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, and show initiative in identifying and solving technical problems. The successful candidate should have strong inter-personal, teamwork and communication skills. Previous experience in IC Design or with the Design CAD tools would be an advantage but is not a requirement. Some travel may be required as part of this role.
