Description: The Adams County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking candidates to volunteer with the Adams County Sheriff's Office Explorer Program. The Explorer program is for young adults between the ages of 15 and 20 years old.
Duties: ?Attend monthly business meeting
?Attend monthly training
?Complete 10 hours of community service in assigned areas (Patrol Division, Jail Division, Detective Division, and Records Section)
?Participate/assist in County functions such as, parades, Adams County Fair, banquets, and Color Guard
?Participate in fundraising activity as well as miscellaneous duties at the Sheriff?s Office
?Adhere to policy, procedures, and post orders
Qualifications: To be considered for an Explorer position, you must be:
-15-20 years of age
-Currently enrolled in school with a minimum 2.0 GPA
-Must not have any felony convictions
Once selected for the position, you will be required to:
-Volunteer 10 hours per month in an assigned area of the Sheriff?s Office
-Aattend two meetings per month
-Attend the Explorer mini-academy within one year of appointment

Description: POSSE- NON CERTIFIED (VOLUNTEER)
The Adams County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for candidates who are interested in volunteering for the Posse auxiliary as a commissioned non-certified volunteer. The Posse volunteers will provide mounted equestrian assistance to the Sheriff?s Office. They will represent the agency in community functions such as parades and special events. There will be opportunities for the Posse/non-certified volunteers to assist in securing livestock for safety reasons and owner notification.
We are looking for candidates who possess high moral standards and work ethics that work effectively with the community
Duties: The non-certified commissioned Posse is comprised of volunteers who provide mounted equestrian assistance for the Sheriff?s Office. Posse members may be called out for disposition of loose livestock. May be deployed at special events and in parades.
Qualifications: Requirements:
18 years or older
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Colorado Driver?s License
Minimum 20/40 corrected vision
Demonstrate equestrian proficiency at Grade Level I or II
Possess horse and transportation to report to events
TESTING IS DONE FOR THIS POSITION. PHASES ARE LISTED BELOW.
Phases:
I Oral Board Interview
This is a scored panel Interview of the candidate?s knowledge, skills and abilities intended to determine if the candidate meets the minimum qualifications for the position of Posse/Non-Certified volunteer. The minimum acceptable average score is 70%.
II Integrity Interview/Background
Candidates passing the Oral Board Interview will be scheduled for an Integrity Interview. The next phase for successful candidates will be a background investigation conducted by Detectives assigned to Human Resources.
III Psychological and Physical
A psychological evaluation and physical examination will be scheduled for candidates passing Phases I and II.
IV Equestrian Testing Process
Top scoring candidates will be tested on their horsemanship skills. The test will be administered to both the candidate and horse to determine their suitability to perform the duties required for this position. They must meet an acceptable performance level as defined in the Policy and Procedures. The test will consist of, but not limited to the horse and rider maneuvering through various obstacles, traffic, reaction to noises, and other animals.

Description: Supply Technician for the Adams County Detention Facility
(Part time - 30-39 hours per week)
Duties: Responsible for five separate warehouses for the jail. Ensures receiving, storage and distribution are performed in an efficient and secure manner. Supervises and provides training for three male inmate workers on a daily basis. Delivers supplies to all units of the jail upon schedule and/or request. Makes emergency deliveries as needed. Maintains the inventory of supplies and coordinates the replacement and ordering of such. Takes precautions to secure warehouse contents against loss. Must understand the security aspect of equipment and supplies. Able to evaluate products for effectiveness and work with the Purchasing Department to recommend type and quantities of supplies for purchase and exercise budgetary control over warehouse operations. Knowledge of OSHA and maintenance of current MSDS product sheets. Reports directly to the Technical Services Manager.
Qualifications: Must possess a High School diploma or GED and be at least 21 years of age. Ability to follow duty post assignments and procedures. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to research information by utilizing a computer or hard-copy and complete projects within established time frame. Be self-motivated and detail oriented. Knowledge in general inventory and warehouse procedures, radio procedures, and inmate supervision.

Description: VICTIM ADVOCATE (VOLUNTEER- NON PAID POSITION)
Duties: *Provide on-call services for the Adams County Sheriff's Office by responding to crime scenes, police stations, or other designated areas.
*Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of 4 shifts per month for a minimum of 1 year
*Serve as an informed source of support to the victim during the immediate crisis. Work closely with various community organizations and services; make referrals on the basis of specific needs.
*Attend each monthly meeting.
Qualifications: *Must be 21 years old to apply
*Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
*Must possess a valid Colorado driver?s license and have a good driving record
*Must have reliable transportation with motor vehicle insurance
Interested candidates should possess sensitivity and good communication skills in working with crime victims. Candidates should have the ability to work well with members of the community, specifically law enforcement officers and hospital personnel.
Candidates are required to successfully complete an initial 40-hour training session.
The selection process includes a background investigation and psychological examination. Candidates must successfully pass both of these to be considered for the program.
