DESCRIPTION
Our office in Bridgewater, NJ has an exciting opportunity for an individual to manage and coordinate fundraising activities of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) within the Northern New Jersey market. The candidate will have primary responsibility for our high profile event: Princeton Tour de Cure. The appropriate candidate will be a self-motivated, high-energy person with demonstrated experience in identifying, recruiting &amp; cultivating volunteers and will have a track record in generating financial support for events. The volunteer/staff team is responsible for the achievement of fundraising goals.
Successful candidate is results-oriented with solid experience working with and through groups to achieve desired outcome in non-profit. Cold-call sales experience and customer relationship building experiences are highly desirable. Strong presentation skills, oral and written are required. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings, and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes.
Must pay close attention to details, be able to manage multiple activities, and describe ADA's vision of successful events to volunteers. Conduct training and orientation of staff and volunteers, assess the fund-raising potential and develop an annual fund-raising plan with goals &amp; objectives for each community.
Assist in the recruitment of volunteer leadership of both medical and lay volunteers in all local activity. Must have experience in working with diverse volunteer groups from many employment and socio-economic backgrounds. Knowledge of the Northern New Jersey market is essential.

REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* 2 to 3 years of sales experience (non-profit fundraising an/or special event experience preferred)
* Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Must have access to a car as frequent, local travel is required
* Must be willing to work some evenings/weekends
* Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

DESCRIPTIONThe American Diabetes Association has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our fundraising team and become a full-time Associate Manager in Orange County, CA. The Associate Manager is responsible for executing and managing special events and meeting predetermined recruitment and fundraising goals within assigned region. You will work with current volunteer committees and staff to implement established special event action plans for one or more signature events, including: Step Out to Fight Diabetes, Rip's Bikers Against Diabetes and Father of the Year Gala.

The Associate Manager will ensure the successful recruitment of participants and volunteers, cultivation of volunteers, logistics for the event, and securing sponsorships for the events. In this capacity, the candidate must be able to work within a team and with key leaders to plan committee meetings, secure sponsorship and marketing for the events, team recruitment and other fundraising initiatives.
The successful candidate is results oriented, with experience in working with and through groups to achieve desired outcomes. Must have experience working with people of diverse backgrounds. Sales experience, including cold calling and customer relationship building is desirable. Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills are required. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes. Must be self-motivated, pay attention to detail and be able to communicate to volunteers the vision of the ADA to ensure successful events. 

REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
* Minimum two years experience with similar voluntary health agencies, or in progressively responsible positions of administration and fundraising or sales.
* Previous experience developing relationships that result in large dollar donations from individuals and corporations and success in achieving annual goals.
* Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential.
* Must have excellent facilitation and/or presentation skills.

* Must have access to an automobile as local travel is required.

REQUIREMENTS* BA/BS degree preferred
* Two or more years of progressive responsible work experience.
* Demonstrated experience in special events, volunteer management, fundraising, developing and maintaining relationships
* Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Self initiative and multi-tasking skills desired

DESCRIPTION The Cincinnati office of the American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the availability of a special events internship. Working with our associate managers, this intern will cultivate corporate and private relationships in an effort to grow the reach of our signature fund-raising events. FUND-RAISING &amp; EVENT PLANNING:

* Work with staff to collect and solicit in-kind donations for various events
* Organize and maintain event budget tracking tools
* Develop a keen understanding of the principles of effective fund-raising
* Present periodic progress updates to the ADA's local board and event committees.


REQUIREMENTS
* Commitment to a flexible work schedule of a minimum of 10-15 hours per week
* Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
* Experience with Microsoft Office applications and web-savvy
* Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously

DESCRIPTIONThe American Diabetes Association seeks a highly motivated and accomplished Director of Development, who will work closely with the Executive Director, to expand and strengthen its base of support. He/she will plan and execute major campaigns to raise the funds necessary to further the mission and programs of the American Diabetes Association.
Qualifications:
A fundraising generalist, with experience from any type of nonprofit organization, with a track record of identifying, cultivating and soliciting major, individual and institutional donors is highly desired. Strategic, proactive, results-oriented, willing to roll-up his/her sleeves to do whatever is necessary to ensure the success of the development effort. Special events and campaign experience is a plus.
The Director of Development must be a polished and sophisticated executive with excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate to a broad range of internal and external constituencies. Strong writing skills and public speaking abilities are key. S/he will provide leadership and strategic direction in designing and implementing a plan to ensure the American Diabetes Association regional office reaches its annual and strategic fundraising goals. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial and strategic fundraiser with a proven track record in securing principal and major gifts at the corporate and foundation level as well as individual levels, in setting and achieving individual and group goals, and in planning campaigns.
Requirements:
* Five or more years of experience in development with knowledge of grant seeking, annual giving, major and planned gifts, and/or corporate giving
* Superior writing, oral communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated results in developing strategic partnerships
* Advanced skills in project management and budget
* Results-driven management skills and experience in budget development and fiscal accountability
* Proven donor cultivation and solicitation experience and persuasive presentation skills 
* Strong writing proficiency in conjunction with excellent time management capability 
* Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed implementation deadlines and fundraising goals 
* Sound interpersonal and team coordination skills with demonstrated ability to listen and evaluate opinions, suggestions and recommendations of others



REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor's degree; advanced degree is a plus
* Proven experience in development with a successful track record of gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
* Aggressive sales mentality with the ability to provide strategic leadership and overall supervision of development efforts
* Successful experience in development planning and financial management

* Knowledge of fundraising databases, i.e retrieving and analyzing information to advance fundraising efforts

In this capacity, the candidate must be able to work with each Event Chair to plan committee meetings, secure marketing for the events, team recruitment and other fund-raising initiatives.
The successful candidate is results oriented, with experience in working with and through groups to achieve desired outcomes. Must have experience working with people of diverse backgrounds. Sales experience, including cold calling and customer relationship building is desirable. Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills are required. Experience in working with groups to achieve desired outcomes, customer relationship building and sales experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of diabetes is preferable but not necessary. The available position requires phone cultivation skills, delivering presentations to educate children and the ability to recruit area schools from within the area.
Candidate must be detail-oriented, be able to manage multiple activities, and be able to describe to volunteers the ADA's vision of a successful event. Experience in working with people of diverse corporate and socio economic backgrounds and knowledge of greater Metro DC communities and school systems is a plus.

DESCRIPTIONThe American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manager, Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes in the Philadelphia market. This position is responsible for meeting the goals of participant recruitment, participant retention and average participant donation income raised for our walk event. In addition to management responsibilities, this position is directly involved in many of the tactical activities required to meet the overall goals of the team. This exciting opportunity is available for an individual to join a nationwide organization with a Mission that affects the lives of more than 23 million adults and children living with diabetes in the U.S. and another 57 million who are at risk for developing the disease.
The Manager, Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes is a front-line, sales-driven spokesperson responsible for converting event prospects into registered participants. Following participant registration, the Manager will be responsible for cultivating participants and provide ongoing customer service in the form of fundraising support. This position is also accountable for insuring that the fundraising and retention goal for their participant base is met, if not exceeded.
Recruitment: 
* Recruit and register participants for Step Out 
* Conduct strategic follow-up calls and emails with prospects who have not yet registered to convert them into registrants 
* Set up meetings and conduct presentations to various groups, including corporate employee groups, civic groups, churches, colleges and universities, etc. for the purpose of recruiting participants 
* Continually seek out local events to advertise and promote the event. Attend events as requested by supervisor.
Cultivation/Retention: 
* Cultivate positive, working relationships with registered participants 
* Schedule informational meetings with registered participants to set up fundraising plans 
* Provide fundraising training, motivation and knowledge to registered participants 
* Communicate with participants by way of phone, email and weekly newsletter to ensure participants are engaged and raising dollars for the event 
* Coordinate fundraising workshops and other related seminars and gatherings; attend social events as needed 
* Assist Logistics Manager with pre-event set up and post-event takedown; attend day of event activities and assist as needed 
* Perform other related duties as assigned by management, including unique duties during the event and participation on the Step Out Walk Committee


REQUIREMENTS* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience plus 3-5 years of related experience
* Cold-call sales experience and customer relationship building experiences are highly desirable
* Experience with special event marketing, recruitment and support for not-for-profit institutions or charitable causes
* Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings, and manage participation to successful outcomes
* Strong presentation skills, oral and written are required
* Familiarity with various types of online fundraising programs

DESCRIPTIONThe American Diabetes Association seeks a dynamic fundraiser to manage and coordinate our signature event, America?s Walk for Diabetes, and act as the lead staff person with the Long Island Leadership Council. This position is based in our Melville, NY office.
The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years experience and a proven track record in fundraising, securing sponsorship, recruiting volunteers, cultivating long term donor relationships, and planning all event logistics.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, be highly organized and detail oriented, capable of making strong written and oral presentations, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Cold call sales experience and customer relationship building experiences are highly desirable.

DESCRIPTIONThe Phoenix, AZ office of the American Diabetes Association has a full-time opportunity for a Coordinator to become a part of our team. This individual will provide event support for our signature events.
Specific duties include:

* Two to three years of administrative support or event coordination experience preferred
* Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, email &amp; Internet
* Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

DESCRIPTION
This temporary position will provide public relations support to the Government Affairs and Advocacy Division of the American Diabetes Association including services in support of grassroots advocacy, state and federal legislative advocacy, and legal (anti-discrimination) advocacy. The position will report to the Managing Director, Communications; however, the candidate in this position is an integral member of the Advocacy team, and will be responsible for specific activities in support of grassroots advocacy. This position may also serve, from time to time, as back-up support in the Communications Division should the need rise.

Communications-specific responsibilities will include:

* Write and distribute news releases and op-ed pieces

* Develop talking points and prepare high-level volunteer spokespersons for interviews

The Marketing Intern will be responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Tour de Cure. Duties include project management, strategic planning of brochure distribution, street team recruitment and management, social networking, research, project development, data entry and mailing projects. No experience necessary, but attention to detail and accountability required and some computer knowledge a plus.

The American Diabetes Association has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our fundraising team and become a full-time Associate Manager in Dallas, TX. The Associate Manager is responsible for executing and managing special events and meeting predetermined recruitment and fundraising goals within assigned region. You will work with current volunteer committees and staff to implement established special event action plans for one or more signature events, such as: Step Out to Fight Diabetes, Tour de Cure, School Walks for Diabetes, and Black Tie Galas.
The Associate Manager will ensure the successful recruitment of participants and volunteers, cultivation of volunteers, logistics for the event, and securing sponsorships for the events. In this capacity, the candidate must be able to work within a team and with key leaders to plan committee meetings, secure sponsorship and marketing for the events, team recruitment and other fundraising initiatives.

Current duties (which are subject to change as need arises):
* The appropriate candidate will be a self-motivated, high-energy, results-oriented person with up to two years of experience, preferably working on non-profit fundraisiong events.
* Strong public speaking presentation skills, oral and written, as well as the ability to manage multiple activities are required.
* Willing and extremely comfortable to conduct school based presentations and implement the School Walk for Diabetes program.

The Special Events &amp; Income Development Intern?s responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
? Researching charitable programs of major local corporations and foundations
? Assist with writing grant proposals to foundations and corporations
? Help in planning and implementing a golf outing fundraiser

? Assist with school-based fundraising and educational programs
? Develop and implement process for recruitment of civic clubs and organizations to ADA?s mission

DESCRIPTIONThe American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the availability of an exciting internship in our Central Texas office. The office is located at 2499 South Capital of Texas Hwy Suite A-204 Austin TX 78746.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks a highly motivated, self-starting student who is passionate about public service. Intern will provide support to ADA staff and gain valuable skills and insights while assisting with event planning, corporate research and volunteer outreach for the American Diabetes Association throughout Central Texas. ADA internships are unpaid, but the hours are part-time and the schedule can be flexible. If your degree program requires you to do an internship this can be used as course credit, where applicable.
This internship will enable a skilled student to assist the ADA by working on important fund-raising cultivation events. This internship will provide the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas including:
FUNDRAISING &amp; EVENT PLANNING
* Assist with planning &amp; implementation of special events along with pre and post events.
* Assist with donor tracking and follow-up both in recruitment and registering companies, teams and individuals
* Draft letters, mail out and follow-up to prospective sponsors and special guests
* Design and prepare event materials and communications including newsletters, email blasts, phone calls, etc.
MARKETING
* Researching charitable programs of major local corporations
* Assisting with implementation of marketing strategies
* Project development and management
* Strategic planning of brochure distribution
* Street team recruitment and management
* Research and data entry projects
This internship will be working specifically with planning the American Diabetes Association?s Tour de Cure 2 day cycling event fromSan AntoniotoAustin. Previous skills and understanding of cycling events would be preferred.

Responsibilities for this position will include executing African American Initiatives, working with our Corporate and Marketing Director to coordinate programs and supervision for Diabetes Expo in Chicago; promoting the recognition of the ADAs programs and special events throughout the metropolitan Chicago area; assisting with grant writing and grants management; leading local and state advocacy efforts; program implementation within diverse communities; and establishing and maintaining partnerships with key diabetes and community groups and health care professionals.
The ideal candidate will possess experience with supervising staff; special events/project management, sales and fundraising; as well as an understanding of implementing and evaluating community education programs.


REQUIREMENTS* BA/BS Degree
* 5 to 8 years experience with educational programs
* Experience with community organization and development
* Comfortable with public speaking to organizations serving diverse populations
* Access to a car as traveling to different communities

DESCRIPTIONThe American Diabetes Association has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our fundraising team and become a full-time Associate Manager in Omaha, Nebraska. The Associate Manager is responsible for executing and managing special events and meeting predetermined recruitment and fundraising goals within assigned region. You will work with current volunteer committees and staff to implement established special event action plans for our signature Walk events.
The Associate Manager will ensure the successful recruitment and cultivation of teams, participants and volunteers; will handle logistics for the event; and will secure sponsorships for the events. In this capacity, the candidate must be able to work within a team and key leaders to secure sponsorship, team recruitment and other fundraising initiatives.
The successful candidate is results oriented, with experience in working with and through groups to achieve desired outcomes. Must have experience working with people of diverse backgrounds. Sales experience, including cold calling and customer relationship building is desirable. Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills are required. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes. Must be self-motivated, pay attention to detail and be able to communicate to volunteers the vision of the ADA to ensure successful events.
Starting salary is in the $30's depending on experience. Benefits include vacation, retirement &amp; health plans.

REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
* Minimum two years experience with similar voluntary health agencies, or in progressively responsible positions of administration and fundraising.
*Previous experience developing relationships that result in large dollar donations from individuals and corporations and success in achieving annual goals.
*Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
*Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and computer proficiency are essential.
*Must have excellent facilitation and/or presentation skills.
* Experience in working with diverse volunteer groups from many employment and socio economic backgrounds.
*Must have access to an automobile as travel is required.
*Ability to attend some weekday evening meetings and some weekend work.

At the ADA, an internship assignment can be just for the summer or as long as a couple of semesters. But no matter how much time you spend with us, you'll immediately be plunged into real, meaningful assignments. During your assignment, we want you to learn about the whole ADA culture. It's not just how we work, but also about friendship and community. This position serves as a support position to help coordinate Oklahoma City area events such as Tour de Cure, Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes, Tailgate for Diabetes (annual gala), the STOP DIABETES campaign, American Diabetes Awareness Month, American Diabetes Alert, and additional events/programs as needed, which benefit the education, advocacy and research of the American Diabetes Association.
Responsibilities:
? Communicate with potential and registered event participants
? Recruit individual patrons, sponsors and participants for events
? Give presentations to individuals and groups to promote events
? Assist in the coordination event logistics
? Assist in the planning for training and day of event training for volunteers
? Attend events/programs
? Gain experience in managing a budget
? Complete administrative duties as assigned 
Duration:Flexible to student schedules
Hours:This internship is unpaid and allows flexible hours. Mileage reimbursement available based on IRS rates.
Office Hours:The office is located at 3000 United Founders Blvd. Suite 108 in Oklahoma City. Our office hours are 8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. 

Candidate must be energetic, a team player, results-oriented and dedicated to the achievement of personal and team goals. This internship requires a candidate with confidence in interpersonal communication, comfort with phone cultivation and a passion for making a difference in the lives of people with and affected by diabetes.
