Title: System Social Designer
Location: California-Santa Monica
Treyarch is looking for talented designer to take the lead with our social and system multiplayer features.

Working with high level design direction, the ideal candidate will create and refine a series of proposals and prototypes that will be developed into clear designs and requirements ready for implementation. You will be asked to own many of the social and system game systems from start to finish, partnering with engineering, art, animation, and sound to see your vision come to life.

Things you want to do every day at work:

· Develop prototypes (Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio, Word, Excel, etc) to clearly articulate the vision of the features for which you are responsible. Pitch the proposals to project lead, then partner with your cross-disciplinary team to see those designs come to life.
· Balance, tune, and adjust the game play experience. You would consider it a personal mission to ensure that no game mode on was played more than another because it was poorly balanced.
· Identify and resolve conflicts with other disciplines in a way that best meets the design goals of the project. With a lot of moving parts that need to come together, you find enjoyment and satisfaction in getting those pieces to work together.
· Have a vision and present your vision in a way that gets everyone excited about the idea and wants to commit to making that vision a reality.
· Review rolled out work at various stages as it is implemented to ensure that it fits the design vision and is of the quality desired. For each core feature in development, identify a series of next steps, review those next steps, and then partner with your producer to turn these into actionable tasks, even when it means you do it yourself.
· Testing the game to ensure it is playable/fun. You want play the game every day and believe reviewing the game, thinking critical about the game play and tuning the experience to be one of the most important ways to spend your time.

* Professional game designer or program/product manager in traditional software development. Avid gamer (especially online gamer!) with a huge game library and a broad range of game experiences.
* A love of FPSes is important because that's what we make and what you want to make if you aren't making them already. If we say we aren't looking at doing X, you can name N games that did it and write a master thesis on why it worked or didn't work.
* Egoless personality, who can communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
* Education and professional training in software development, architecture, industrial design and related arts.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is capable of navigating within a large development team toget things donewith a strong desire to exceed expectations.
Responsibilities
- Visualization:Work with the Art Director to establish the look of the game's front-end user interface, in-game HUD, and additional art content to maintain a consistent visual aesthetic across all UI assets. You understand that beyond just making assets look good, you have to provide the end user with an experience that they will enjoy for months, even years, of time spent with the game.
- Design:Work closely with the Design Director and Systems Designers to iterate on concepts until architectural and usability requirements are met. This is where form and function meet - a strong visual style is worth nothing if the user is confused or frustrated, and you want to find the perfect balance between usability and cool visuals.
- Implementation:Work with the Engineers to ensure that all assets appear in-game to specification and within technical constraints. It's easy to make concepts look good on paper - bringing ideas to life in the game is the bigger challenge. You want to realize your designs by getting them in-game as quickly as possible and as functional as possible.
- Planning:Work with the Producers to prioritize your schedule and deliver assets that support the development goals of each milestone. You understand that Production is responsible for making decisions about long-term strategy, risk management, and content delivery timelines, and you want to give your Producer the best information possible to make the best project management decisions possible.
- Iteration:Iterate on content based on usability feedback to ensure that the end-user has a seamless and intuitive experience and that all assets appear in-game with a high degree of readability. You love feedback, both positive and negative, and you seek to gather as much feedback as you can.
- Motivation:Have a driving desire to make the best-looking and most intuitive user experience ever seen in a video game.

- 3 years experience working in visual media with a focus on user interface design
- Game industry experience on at least 1 commercially shipped title is preferable
- Additional experience working in a related field, such as industrial design, web design, information architecture, illustration, or motion graphics, is highly desired
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a breadth of visual creativity with many examples that fit within the constraints of a system design, preferably one that is software-driven
- Proficiency in standard graphic media applications, such as Photoshop, is required
- Additional knowledge of secondary visual media applications, 3D packages, or scripting languages is a plus
- Must demonstrate that you have a thorough understanding of the processes involved in a large-project art pipeline
- Must be a good communicator who works well with a variety of personalities in an energetic team environment
- Must be able to iterate quickly on concepts and deliver with a consistent degree of quality and efficiency
- It's preferable that you have a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design OR have equivalent work experience as a Graphic Artist
- MUST have a passion for games - multiplayer gaming is a big plus!
