Part-time Administrative Assistant
The American Council on Education's Center for Effective Leadership, Fellows Program seeks a part-time Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant for the ACE Fellows Program/Council of Fellows (COF) provides support principally for the alumni and advancement activities relating to the Fellows Program and its alumni organization, the COF. This is a part-time position, averaging 10 hours per week, with flexibility of hours over the course of the year and in relationship to the flow of Fellows Program work. Work is concentrated in three areas -- Alumni, Fund Raising, and COF support. The job includes a mixture of activities in all three areas in cycles throughout the year but does not require deep expertise in any of the three areas. Working with the ACE Fellows Program team provides an opportunity to see a broad range of issues and leaders relating to colleges and universities specifically relating to the three areas of focus for the position, and also in general relating to the ongoing development and operations of this premier leadership development program. Working in this position also provides an opportunity to observe many of the other activities, services, and initiatives of ACE.
Expectations of Skills
* Facility with computer software, in particular Excel and Word
* Familiarity and comfort, in general, with computer databases and their manipulation and productivity
* Strong writing skills for correspondene, memos, reports
* Knowledge of basics statistics sufficient for running dashboard reports on fund raising and alumni benchmarks
 
 
 
Areas/Skills That Would Be An Added Plus
 
* Familiarity with simple statistics and basic statistical software
* Familiarity with basic financial reporting documentation (simple income and expense statements)
* Familiarity in any areas of alumni affairs, fund raising, marketing, quantitative research
* Interest in higher education, leadership development, alumni affairs, fund raising, marketing, or research about any of these areas

This individual will work with the CIO to plan, direct, organize and supervise ITS software development and support activities and staff with a focus on database and software applications management and support.&#160; Will implement and maintain effective project management, change management and staff supervisory controls for daily operation of the areas under supervision.&#160; Acts as the Council&#8217;s primary resource for creation of a comprehensive software environment of high value to ACE staff and stakeholders, integrating all appropriate organizational information, including consistent and frequent communication with customers to determine their software needs and to best meet those needs; work with CIO to conduct regular analysis of ACE&#8217;s software portfolio. Work in concert with CIO and ITS managers to create a harmonious and cooperative office environment.
The successful candidate should possess outstanding written and verbal communications skills and strong leadership and project management skills.&#160; Additional requirements include a college degree or equivalent experience, at least five(5) years of supervisory experience in a technical environment, and at least 7 years of progressive experience in a software and/or database development environment.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Public Affairs and working closely with ACE's senior leadership, the Director of Marketing is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of an integrated ACE Marketing Plan which will enhance the Council's image and meet specific objectives set by the leadership. Specific responsibilities include market research, promotion and advertising, coordination of Council-wide marketing and communication with members, and membership development.
The Director will be guided by ACE's major marketing objectives:

The Director of Advancement will work closely with the Vice President, Advancement &amp; Member Services and Assistant Director, Advancement, to increase external funding for ACE&#8217;s programs, products and services and meet fund raising targets. Focus will be on corporate and foundation relations. In addition to donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, the Director will be responsible for strategic growth of ACE&#8217;s Alliance Program and expansion of Annual Meeting sponsorship program. The Director will develop materials for fund raising needs and work closely with ACE program staff on development and funding of proposals. Will also serve as a critical member of the broader team involving Membership, Marketing and Meeting Services.

Unpaid Internship:Open to graduate student in education with an academic focus on internationalization who will receive academic credit
The Center for International Initiatives seeks a graduate student research intern to assist with a project on North American international educational partnerships and campus internationalization beginning December 2009. Now in its analytical phase, this project conducted by the ACE Associate Director for International Initiatives during a Fulbright sabbatical, involved the collection of data at four institutions of higher education in Quebec Canada (spring 2009) and two Universities in the Region Central Occidente of Mexico (fall 2009). This project examines those factors that contribute to effective use of North American partnerships for the internationalization of those institutions involved. Anticipated products include a web-page with lessons learned and tools for institutions to examine this relationship and maximize their partnership activity.
The intern responsibilities will initially be focused on completing the transcription of interviews conducted during the data collection phase but there will also be opportunities to work closely with the investigator on the analysis and organization of this data for institutional reports, a web-page, presentations and articles. In addition to the mentorship opportunity that engagement in this project presents, the intern will also receive ACE publications about internationalization, have opportunities to interact with select ACE staff, and be included in ACE-CII weekly staff meetings and events during the winter and spring. The intern would be expected to meet weekly with the Associate Director to discuss progress on the project, but would work off-site and have flexibility with his or her hours.
The ideal candidate is an advanced graduate student in education with an academic focus on internationalization; personal experience with global learning; knowledge of qualitative research methods; strong English writing skills; an open and responsive communication style. Listening and reading skills in French and/or Spanish and knowledge and access to ATLAS TI analytical software are strongly preferred.
