General Summary
The Principal Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of professional-level engineering tasks in his/her areas of expertise. The Principal Engineer may act independently act as the engineer in responsible charge for smaller projects, and for portions of larger or complex projects. The Principal Engineer may assume project management responsibility for smaller projects, or for subtasks of larger or complex projects. When not assuming project management responsibility, the Principal Engineer will take technical direction on a project and assignment-specific basis from their supervisor. May be assigned to several projects concurrently, and on each project assignment may report for technical direction to a different supervisor. The Principal Engineer position is a professional-level technical position, with limited responsibility for performing management tasks.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (PDR)
The Principal Engineer is a professional-level technical position, with primary technical responsibility and limited management responsibility. An engineer who has attained professional engineering registration or the equivalent, and has a number of years of responsible charge level experience typically fills the Principal Engineer position. The PDRs for the Principal Engineer position stress technical leadership and achievement in advancement of the Company's project responsibilities and overall goals. PDRs include:
1. Develop budgets and schedules for assigned projects and project tasks, within requirements of contracts and subject to the approval of Project and  RC Division Management.
2. Initiate project set up and project management files for projects or sub-projects of moderate complexity.
3. Act in responsible charge, while directly performing assigned engineering tasks in conformance with the Company's quality standards and the  project budget and schedule.
4. Provide direction and oversight of Engineers, Lead Engineers and Project Engineers assigned to assist the Principal Engineer in execution of   project responsibilities.
5. Initiate and maintain communication with clients and contractors for purposes of technical coordination of project requirements.
6. Assist in technical training and mentoring of Engineers, Lead Engineers, and Project Engineers.
7. Participate in marketing of the Company's services to client contacts and to new clients, as assigned by management.
8. Assist in collection of payment for project work from clients, as assigned by Supervisor.
9. Prepare and submit time charge records, expense reports, invoice approvals, and collections status notices in a timely manner in accordance with  Company procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR)
The following list is generally applicable to all Principal Engineers.
1. Bachelors of Science degree in appropriate engineering discipline (or recognized equivalent), and at least eight years of experience; or a Master of  Science degree in the engineering discipline (or recognized equivalent), and at least seven years' work experience; or a Doctor of Philosophy   degree in the engineering discipline (or recognized equivalent), and 5 years of work experience.
2. Working knowledge of the ABS Quality and Environmental Management System (ISO 9000/14000) and the Nuclear Quality Assurance System ( 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21 & ANSI N45.2 or NQA-1).
3. Ability to utilize basic personal computer applications including spreadsheets, word processors, email, and Internet browsers.
4. Ability to communicate technical aspects of projects and of work assignments to peers, subordinates and clients.
5. Ability to direct the execution of moderately complex engineering tasks.

5. Internal Leadership

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR)
1. Requires a minimum of 15 years' post-bachelor's degree experience, M.S. degree or above in engineering, or an  equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

General Summary

A degree or recognized equivalent in appropriate technical discipline is preferred; should have previous related marine industry experience and appropriate certification and/or licenses in area of specialization.
Effective 1 January 2007, all new hire candidates to this position are to have, as a minimum, the following:
A degree or equivalent from an institution recognized within a relevant field of engineering or physical science (i.e., a degree or equivalent -- minimum two year program, depending on local education system); or
Relevant qualifications from a suitable marine or nautical institution and relevant seagoing experience as a certified ship officer; and

2. Working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

Job Description:
General Summary for ASME Manager - Position located in Houston, Texas
Responsible for managing Inspection Services which provides Authorized Inspection Agency services to assigned clients at operating nuclear power plant facilities and associated clients. This position requires knowledge of ASME Codes for new construction of nuclear pressure vessels and In-service Inspection requirements for nuclear pressure vessels, in addition to the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) for repair, alteration and replacement of nuclear pressure vessels at operating power plants.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (PDR)
Perform all Supervisory duties prescribed in the National Board's Rules for Commissioned Inspectors, QAI-1 Qualifications for Authorized Inspection Agencies and all applicable ASME construction Codes for nuclear fabrication.
Provide technical support and direction to assigned Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspectors and clients.
Conduct performance audits of all assigned Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspectors and document the results, as prescribed by the company's Quality System.
Provide written notification to all assigned Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspectors of their work assignments, including scope of inspection activity.
Provide written notification to all assigned Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspectors of the Supervisor's home and office addresses, and telephone numbers for technical support contact purposes.
Provide written notification to all assigned Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspectors advising them of their authority to refuse to sign any Owner's Data Report, if all applicable Code requirements have not been met.
Complete and or participate in all training assignments, (correspondence or other forms of training), as directed by the Supervisor's Manager.
Provide verbal and written technical direction and training to Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspectors, as required to maintain their proficiency.
Conduct technical panel discussion meetings with assigned Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspectors, as required to maintain their proficiency.
Perform the duties of the Authorized Nuclear In-service Inspector, when required.
Perform jurisdictional (statutory) inspections of pressure vessels
Submit the required client billing and weekly report documentation, in an expedient manner to the assigned Project and/or Operations Coordinator.
Work in radiological controlled areas in a manner that will minimize the degree of personal exposure (ALARA)(1).
Perform third party inspection and other inspection duties, as requested by the company.
Provide vacation relief for inspectors at non-assigned facilities, when required . if available for the assignment.
Work all reasonable hours (not exceeding 16 per day) necessary to support the needs of the client.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR)
Must have a High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher level education, as required to comply with the qualification criteria of the Rules for Commissioned Inspectors, established by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
Must have a minimum of 10 years experience as an AI, ANI, ANIS and/or ANII, or demonstrated proficiency to the satisfaction of hiring manager.
Must have near distance visual acuity (corrected or natural) of 20/20, in at least one eye.
Maintain a current National Board Authorized Inspector Commission, with an "N", "I" and "NS" endorsements.
Possess a thorough knowledge of the applicable ASME and NBIC Codes, required for the performance of Inspector Duties, at assigned client locations.
Must be a motivated self-starter and work without direct supervision.
Must be able to meet client criteria for unescorted access to nuclear power plant facilities, including background checks and psychological evaluation.
Have a demonstrated ability to supervise people and achieve positive results.
Possess a thorough knowledge of radiation health physics effects, and methods used to reduce personal exposure.
Possess a thorough knowledge of welding and ASME Code Section IX Code requirements.
Possess a thorough knowledge of Nondestructive Examination methods and ASME Code Section V requirements.
Possess a thorough knowledge of the operational characteristics of nuclear power plants.
Maintain physical stature, as necessary to comply with Fitness for Duty requirements, as may be imposed by clients controlling access to restricted or safety related areas. (i.e., presence of facial hair shall not restrict the sealing ability of personal protective devices (respirators), etc; must continuously pass drug and alcohol screening, whether random or scheduled, and must be able to walk long distances, climb stairs, scaffolding, and ladders. Must not have claustrophobia or acrophobia.
Possess ability to monitor the client's ISI Plan and document results of same.
Possess above average oral and written communication skills.
Possess above average analytical and problem solving ability.
Possess computer skills necessary to communicate and transfer data electronically.
Be able to travel, as requested by the company.
Exhibit thorough administrative and supervisory skills that considers managerial effectiveness, approach to supervision, technical competence, professional characteristics covering integrity, adaptability, interpersonal skills, work ethic, and judgment.
Working Conditions
Work will normally be performed in a shop or field, (non-air conditioned, moderate noise) environment. Work hours may occasionally exceed eight hours per day and weekend and/or holiday work is sometimes required. The physical demands may require extensive standing, some climbing and entry into confined spaces. Traveling by all modes of ground and air transportation will be required noting this position is subject to extensive long-term travel.

3. Knowledge of offshore structures required.

Job Description:
General Summary
To assist in auditor/staff recruitment/qualification/competency/training/records/witness audits; addressing technical issues and accreditation body CAR responses; conducting report review and client CAR evaluation; and assisting in managing the QMX CAR and document databases.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities (PDR)
1. Provide training materials for auditors and staff; assist in the development of training programs.
2. Maintain personal auditing competence through the performance of a minimum of one audit per quarter.
3. Provide technical support to the auditors prior to, during, and after audits.
4. Provide responses on client questions concerning audits and company's interpretation of the applicable standards.
5. Respond to customer questions and requests.
6. Assist in coordinating operational activities in all Country Offices.
7. Other duties as may be assigned by the Manager of Operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR)
1. Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited university, preferably in an engineering/technical discipline, or equivalent quality experience.
2. Industrial experience in an engineering/technical capacity.
3. Qualified and registered Lead Assessor for ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001.
4. Proven leadership ability to plan, coordinate and manage projects.
5. Familiarity with commercial, governmental and international standards and regulations.
6. Good decision making and organizational skills.
7. Good oral and written communications skills, including strong technical writing ability.
8. Mature, exercises sound judgment, and has a sense of diplomacy.
9. Computer literacy.
10. Personal commitment to provide high quality client services.

Job Description:
General Summary
To receive, reconcile and input into the Oracle system, cash information; to ensure the accuracy of the accounts payable information input into the accounting system and disseminated to both internal and external clients.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (PDR)
Prepare and distribute disbursements - either check or wire transfer or through electronic banking medium.
Type manual checks
Reconcile accounts.
Filing and other duties as assigned.
Transmit Positive Pay File to Bank as needed.
Initiate wire transfers, ACH, and foreign trade deals using banking software from various banks to effect duly approved requests.
Coordinate Cash Flow and Disbursements against available Cash Balance.
Maintain G/L Bank accounts and physical bank accounts
Create and document and maintain controls over all disbursements
Responsible for demonstrating a commitment to Total Quality and the process of continuous improvement, identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the need of all customers and be open and responsive to change.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR)
Some experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Operational understanding of computerized accounting systems and spreadsheet software.
Experience with Oracle.
