Job Description:
Job Summary:
Support the quality and performance measurement function within the Academy; this includes assisting the Director in coordinating the function across Academy task forces, committees, and councils, and moving this information forward through appropriate channels for approval. Collaborate with member dermatologists in developing quality performance measures and work through the Academy's task force, committee, and council infrastructure to achieve review and approval. Work collaboratively with the Practice Policy and Management and Education Departments to implement performance measures, as appropriate, as part of dermatology maintenance of certification and continuing medical education. May include representing the Academy by participating on AMA PCPI (Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement), NQF (National Quality Forum), AQA (Ambulatory Quality Alliance), and other quality committees and workgroups as a substitute for or along with the Director and volunteer members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist Director in establishing appropriate process for developing and implementing performance measures.
2. Monitor and report on the policy and political environment related to performance measurement, patient safety and quality improvement.
3. Represent the organization and advocate for dermatology-developed performance measures and other clinical standards in forums related to performance measurement, patient safety and quality improvement.
4. Assist the director in maintaining relationships with the key players in performance measure development and implementation including, but not limited to, AQA, NQF, NCQA, IHI, NPSF, AMA-PCPI, CMS and special interest groups such as managed care companies and insurance carriers, accreditation organizations, government agencies, and the employer community.
5. Work collaboratively with Academy staff, volunteer physicians, and councils, committees, and task forces, as well as liaison with external organizations and other stakeholders.
6. Provide overall staffing and liaison services to assigned council, committees and task forces in conjunction with the chairs of these organizational groups. This includes drafting meeting agendas, coordinating meetings and conference calls, drafting programs/strategies to be discussed on the agenda, drafting and distributing summation reports, tracking follow-ups, assisting with developing and monitoring the committee budget, and ensuring annual reports are complete. The staff liaison will work with the Director and Chair to assure the business of the committee is accurately recorded and placed on the appropriate agenda(s) of the appropriate oversight committee, council or Board. Staff liaison will develop and maintain knowledge of the committee's area of expertise and work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers.
7. Assist the Director of Science and Quality with recommending, designing, and determining appropriate strategic and financial goals that relate to the department and the overall Academy mission. Develop and implement programs to fulfill these goals. Assist in the development of the departmental budget, monitor revenue and expenses and assist with quarterly variance reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding the performance measurement environment as it relates to the development and implementation of measures and in depth knowledge of quality measure development. This includes but is not limited to an understanding of evidence-based medicine, the key stakeholders in medicine and the political environment related to performance measurement. Ability to work with volunteer dermatologists on complex issues and represent the specialty when necessary.  Understanding of Medicare's PQRI program and other pay for performance programs a plus.  Understanding the different uses of performance measures (for both accountability and quality improvement purposes) and their working relationship to evidence-based guidelines of care, maintenance of certification, payment, and quality improvement processes.Ability to execute projects under minimal supervision. Must have good organizational skills, excellent writing ability, ability to juggle multiple deadlines, analytical skills

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or nursing degree required. Two years experience developing/writing performance measurements. Advanced level degree in policy, public health, epidemiology, or nursing preferred. Three to five years experience in a medical association environment preferred.

Job Description:
Position Summary:
Manage Web-based application projects, from gathering requirements to launch. Develop and maintain associated documentation and training materials.
Responsibilities Include:
. Responsible for leading the implementation of new Web-based programs and applications. Responsible for gathering and documenting end user requirements, developing and providing timelines/ deliverables and delegating and prioritizing work of the development project team. Responsible for testing prior to launch to ensure applications meet client expectations.  Maintain proper documentation as specifications change.
. Responsible for working with all departments to ensure changes and updates are made in a timely manner to existing applications for all Academy related Web services and related programs. Responsible for testing changes according to specifications. Provide customer and development support for Academy related Web site inquiries.
. Work closely with the Electronic Publications Manager and Web Applications Manager to coordinate programming projects, updates to content and design elements to the Web Site.
. Conduct quarterly departmental meetings with stakeholders. Serve as departmental representative on various internal workgroups. Demonstrate new products to department liaisons. Monitor other association Web sites for style and program ideas and make recommendations on enhancements.
. Develop manuals and handouts and schedule and facilitate formal and informal Web-based training sessions on the Academy Web site programs and services to both staff and members.
. Research and recommend 3rd party solutions as needed. Provide support for applications provided by external resources. This includes listservs, Web statistical reporting, content management software, and any additional 3rd party software used by the department.
. Serve as a back up to the Senior Web Specialist to support the approximately 35 Web sites supported and maintained by Web Services. Work with internal workgroup to create and distribute broadcast emails.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Minimum four years related Internet experience. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Front Page and Outlook, and HTML required. Minimum two years project management experience necessary. Prior Web programming (.Net, PHP, etc.) and/or design experience (Photoshop, Flash, CSS styles) a plus.  Association and/or technology industry experience preferred. Effective verbal and written interpersonal communication skills required. Good organizational, project prioritization and planning skills. Impeccable attention to detail is essential. Ability to utilize project management skills to develop and implement needs assessments, formal project documentation, and manage changes in scope. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment needed.
